TRANSITIONS FILM FESTIVAL CINEMA NOVA 18th February – 3rd March “Visions of a Better World”

The 5th annual Transitions Film Festival returns to Melbourne this February with a powerful lineup of cuttingedge documentaries about the existential challenges, megatrends, gamechanging technologies and creative visions that will redefine what it means to be human.

The program kicks off with pre­festival outdoor screenings at City Square in partnership with TheNew Joneses,and Federation Square in partnership with Pause Fest,before the opening night screening of Catching the Sunat Cinema Nova on the 18th of February.

The films in this year’s Transitions Film Festival centre around the themes of discovery, purpose, innovation, impact and the #ideasbloom that will shape the future of our society and civilisation.

This year’s program covers an enormous spectrum of topics including, activist grandmas, global tax avoidance, the history of climate change, international energy transitions, pathways out of poverty and the future of the global food system.

The program features inspirational panel discussions with a huge lineup of filmmakers and sustainability leaders. Key festival guests include filmmakers: Shalini Kantayya (Catching the Sun) and Lisa Heenan (Polyfaces), as well as leading artists, activists and sustainability leaders including : Alex Kelly (Impact Producer, This Changes Everything), John Wiseman (Melbourne Sustainable Society Institute), Tom Dawkins (StartSomeGood), Anna Reeves(That Startup Show), Matt Wicking(The General Assembly),Dr Angus Hervey(Future Crunch), authors Greg Foyster, Tom Doig and Deborah Hart, as well as the former Victorian Commissioner for the Environment Kate Auty.

The Transitions Film Festival is dedicated to showcasing inspirational documentaries about the social and technological innovations, revolutionary ideas and trailblazing changemakers that are leading the way to a better world.
