Lentil as Anything in collaboration with the Urban Garden Collective invites you to partake in an exciting new community venture as we embark on a journey into the garden that will feed Lentil’s restaurants and create space for sustainable arts in the streets of Melbourne. This community project has been conceived collectively.
Our philosophy is based upon the underlying values of food security, self sufficiency, reclaiming community dynamics, and growing food using natural methods for Lentils’ kitchens and the neighbourhood. We believe in a basic human right to have access to safe and nutritious food.
Through the creation of these gardens, Lentils will have a deepened sense of food security to continue feeding the community.
This project is limitless.
We have recently secured two sites: one located at the Abbotsford Convent just a short walk from the Lentils kitchen, and the other in Preston, not far from the Preston Lentils. Both Darebin and Yarra city councils are in full support of the Urban Garden Collective project as we align with their Urban Food Production Strategy.
The Urban Garden Collective has received generous donations and strong energy from volunteers to help us kickstart this beautiful project.
If you want to get involved, all you need is a passion for growing healthy food and growing a healthy community.
