Introducing the ‘Lentil as Anything’ Internship Program
Lentil as Anything now offers unpaid internships to current students and recent graduates interested in learning the inner workings of a nonprofit organisation.
Interns are supervised, receive weekly feedback and gain hands-on experience in their area of interest.

- Graphic and Web Design Intern
- Business and Operations Intern
- Community Engagement Intern
- Interior and Spatial Design Intern

Be able to commit to 3+ months (8 hours per week)
4 hours per week working from the ‘Intern Hub’ @ Lentil as Anything, Thornbury and 4 hours per week working from home
Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and a high level of computer competency
Be self-motivated and organised with a positive can-do attitude
Have a strong desire to make a difference and a passion for the ‘Lentil as Anything’ mission

Fundraising and Public Relations Intern
Draft grant applications and correspondence
Write press releases
Create and update contact lists
Plan and attend events
Assist in the running of the new Lentils community hub in Thornbury
Ideal applicants should have excellent communication skills, community focused and have the ability to work on various projects at once. Previous experience in grant writing is a plus. This is a great position for someone interested in nonprofit promotion and community engagement.
Business and Operations Intern
Conduct research on current systems and processes
Identify the irregularities in business operations and standards designs
Review and report on business expenses
Assess the operations of the organisation and present suggestions to problems and generate procedures for enhanced decision making
Ideal applicants should have excellent research and reporting skills, advanced Microsoft Word and Excel abilities and display a high level of accuracy. Previous experience in the hospitality industry is a plus. This is a great position for someone interested in operations management and organisation design.
Graphic and Web Design Intern
Create and revise various marketing materials
Print collateral; menus, poster and flyer design
Web and social media graphics, email graphics
Update website as required
Ideal applicants should have excellent type and composition skills, proficiency in WordPress and Adobe CS is required (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop). Illustration and photography skills would be a plus. This is a great position for someone interested in gaining experience in all aspects of online and print design.
Community Engagement Intern
Communicate, consult and engage with stakeholders
Organise community programs, activities and initiatives
Research and conduct outreach to potential partner organisations
Visit local schools, community groups and businesses
Present on and promote the work of Lentils
Ideal applicants should be a confident communicator, resourceful and organised. Previous experience in presenting or working in schools is a plus. This is a great position for someone interested in non-profit promotion and community education.
Interior and Spatial Design Intern
Design and renovate internal spaces
Conduct feasibility studies for various projects
Source products and decorations
Prepare working drawings, designs, plans, models and schemes
Ideal applicants should have excellent organisational and creative problem-solving skills. Previous experience in restaurant interior design is a plus. This is a great position for someone that enjoys a hands-on approach and someone that would enjoy the challenge of working with a very limited budget.
