Lentil Expands to Sydney

Following fourteen years of success across venues in Melbourne, former
Sri Lankan refugee, Shanaka Fernando and his not-for-profit ‘Lenitl As
Anything’ Restaurants have just opened in Sydneys Newtown. Diners are
invited to pay what they feel the meal is worth, keeping in mind that
their donation goes towards a host of things, food, labour, refugee
training and support as well as sponsorship, community initiatives, and
feeding the homeless just to name a few. Fernando’s generosity led to
the Victorian Government awarding him with the Australian Local Hero
Award in 2007.
Many members of the community also get involved where possible with
everyone from electricians, plumbers and carpenters volunteering their
expertise, while farmers donate fresh produce. The restaurant, like all
Lentils will be staffed predominantly by volunteers.
