Community Blackboard

Hello Lentil community!

Good job finding our ‘Community Blackboard’ blog. We’re hoping that it will become a hub of online community activity. If you’d like to contribute in any way, first, you need to register on the right hand side of the page. Once you register, you’ll need to login to Wordpress. Do this by visiting the blog (where you are right now!! – http://lentilasanything.com/blog) and clicking on ‘Site Admin‘ (found under the meta heading on the right, halfway down the page). Put your username in and the password which should have been sent to your email address when you registered.

You’ll be taken to the Lentil as Anything Blog Dashboard, then you simply hit ‘Add new‘ under ‘Posts‘ on the left.

Then blog away! Add words! Add photos, videos or audio. Your post won’t go up right away. Rather, it’ll hang out in cyberspace for a bit, until we check it to make sure it’s not rude, or an advertisement for a shampoo sale. Make sure you check back in a couple of days to see if your post has gone up. If you have any problems or questions, please email whatson@lentilasanything.com.

When you’re logged in, you’ll be able to make comments on other people’s posts too. Please be nice!

We hope to see this space being used by lots of people… Lentil staff and volunteers (past and present), regular and not-so-regular customers! The Pope, maybe! An ex-Spice Girl perhaps.

If you have a poster for a community event that you think would be of interest to the Lentil community, that would be totally appropriate to put up! This is just a big noticeboard… inside the internet.

To the management ‘team’ at Lentil,

I am a Melbournian and am very familiar with your establishments. Indeed I have espoused the view of all inclusion in life and have happily given what I could for every meal I have partaken there.

However, my loving view may change. At present, I am resisting this in the hope I have read something wrong.

I have just viewed part one of the documentary about you on SBS and – I say this with all sincerity – I am absolutely shocked and appalled at the way you are operating.

I had no idea Bruce was owed so much money and I feel you are taking advantage of a very, very good and decent man. I was driven to tears when his predicament was revealed – in fact, I’m still really upset as I write so I am being really careful with my words here – and I am struggling to understand how you can possibly justify what you are doing.

“I don’t want to hear/think about it” isn’t good enough, Shanaka, when you are literally feeding off other businesses and people to make your own living. In real life, we call those who live in this manner ‘parasites’. I cannot understand how you can keep laughing when you refuse to acknowledge that you are operating at a loss! How can you NOT PAY people for weeks? This is really offensive to me. We have laws in this country that protect people from this type of exploitation.

In my view, what you are doing is grossly unethical and, dare I say this, tantamount to theft.

With respect to the staff, I would ask you all to band together and put a stop to a management system that is not only working but is actually and actively hurting other people.

I am sad to have to write this but I feel in light of what I have seen tonight, absolutely necessary.

Well done Lentil as Anything ! Great food and great concept!
I’ll be celebrating 20 years of vegetarianism, in 2010, with all my dedicated vegetarian friends exclusively.(all 10 of them. A bit sad, but they all have their heads in the right place.) I am thinking of doing this at Lentils.

yes! bruce is being paid all the time. And he is actually one of the lentil board members. *omited from doco! thanks for your concern Bruce is an inspiration to us all. Although im not vegan
