Lentil as Anything is in negotiations with Abbotsford Convent Foundation to Save Lentil’s Abbotsford Base.
Lentil as Anything has entered negotiations with the Abbotsford Convent Foundation (ACF) regarding its future at the iconic Abbotsford Convent location.
In October last the ACF announced in The Age they were seeking expressions of interest from other hospitality providers, putting the future of Lentil at risk at the Convent.
A list of over 30,000 signatures were gathered in late 2015 in the #KeepLentilAtAbbotsford campaign to save the Abbotsford hub. Father Bob McGuire, Reverend Tim Costello (World Vision CEO), David de Kretser (former Victorian Governor), Helen Kapalos (Victorian Multicultural Commissioner) and a host of prominent, highly respected Melburnians rallied together for the cause.
After a competitive selection process lasting almost 10 weeks, the ACF has announced that it is happy with the positive discussions held with Lentil so far and has offered to continue negotiations throughout January and February 2016. The restaurant’s current lease arrangements will continue and no other parties will be negotiated with.
“We are hopeful that long term lease arrangements can be negotiated that will work for the benefit of both the Convent and Lentil.” says Shanaka Fernando, Founder of ‘Lentil as Anything’.
We look forward to negotiations with the Abbotsford Convent Foundation, and will keep Lentil supporters updated on their progress. We are hopeful of securing our immediate and longer term future at the Convent so that we can get back to focusing on our core business: providing delicious nutritious food and supporting our community.
