Every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday Night is A la Carte night in Abbotsford
The Abbotsford Convent is an extraordinary place and becoming an important arts, learning and cultural precinct in Melbourne.
Just 4 kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD, it’s 11 historic buildings, gardens are spread over 6.8 hectares in a sweeping bend in the Yarra River. Lentil as Anything at Abbotsford is the largest among 3 restaurants at the Abbotsford Convent. More than 900 diverse members in the community come to Lentil as Anything Abbotsford every day to share a meal. There are 140 places at our tables, inside and out, so there is room for everyone. Opened in 2005 in the former dining hall of the nuns, Lentil as Anything Abbotsford came to build bridges across disparate community groups. Boat people and Abbotsford’s disciples of dhal smile across restored wood-work benches to the music of a one man celtic reggae band.
Art in Abbotsford
Lentils As Anything has two art exhibition spaces at our Abbottsford and Preston restaurants. The purpose of our exhibition space is to be an open platform for all artists of all skill level and styles to showcase their work without paying large hire fees or commissions. We also see it as another way for people to contribute to lentils. As well as having exhibitions, Lentils is always looking for artists for group exhibitions and other projects that artists can participate in. If interested in exhibiting at Lentils you can contact our arts manager, Flick, via email at firstname.lastname@example.org with some examples of your work and an art statement talking about your art.
